The faculty is headed and controlled by the dean, who appoints three vice-deans. They are responsible for:

study and pedagogical issues,
research issues and
external relations.

The dean´s office, headed by the secretary of the faculty, is the executive body, which deals with:

the dean´s, vice-deans´, academic secretary´s and senate´s agenda;
the pedagogical, research and educational issues of the faculty.

The academic secretary acts as the deputy of the dean in economic and administrative matters.

The academic senate of the faculty is the representative body of the academic community.

The scientific board of the faculty - the members are appointed by the dean with the consent of the academic senate.

There are seven departments and two special institutions at the Faculty of Economics:

[Historie fakulty]

The Faculty of Economics was founded in 1990 as a part of the University of West Bohemia. Since then the school has been closely cooperating with other faculties (particularly as regards the following subjects: Mathematics, Statistics, Programming, Law, etc.). The s.c. "credit" system of study was introduced in 1993.

The Faculty of Economics has also established a lot of contacts with schools abroad (fellowship of distinguished specialists at the Faculty of Economics, short-term attachment of our students at other schools, excursions, practical training of students in many companies operating in industry, tourism, spa industry, trade, banking, statistics, etc.)

Since 1996, the students at the Faculty of Economics have been able to study not only for the Bachelor´s Degree (a three-year study programme), but also for the Master´s Degree. By this act, the Faculty of Economics has become an equal partner to the other faculties of the University of West Bohemia.
