[Characterization of the dpt.]

The department of business economics and accounting provides for the teaching of business economy subjects for all students of the Faculty of economics. The subjects are: the theory of a firm, human resources and motivation, production and material economy, costs, calculation and pricing, elementary accounting and managerial accounting, controlling. Moreover we also provide for the teaching of the so called profile block subjects: economy of small and middle firms, small and middle firms 1 and 2, territorial conditions of small and middle business. The department also arranges for the following supplementary subjects: administration systems, statistics, regional planning and applied logistics.

Apart from the basic teaching the department also provides for vocational training for students and seminars to support the bachelor theses in the sphere of business economy.

The department is also involved in the research of the economic structure managerial activity and the labour force reproduction.

The department arranges also the state bachelor examinations of business economy and of small and middle firms specialisation.

The consulting centre of the Faculty in Prague, which is a part of the department is supported by the department.

An introduction into the subject matter. Business - its characteristics, kinds and forms, fundamentals of business strategy - factors of the manufacturing process - people in the manufacturing process - working means and their maintenance, input into production, materials, material economy - the fundamentals of internal management - the process of planning in business.

KEU/PH2  Human Resources
Labour force, its function and position in the manufacturing process, staffing policy, employment market, planning, staff recruitment and performance measurement, termination of employment, personal management.

KEU/PH3  Cost, Calculation, Price
Costs, their characteristics, classification, overhead costs - calculation of costs, calculation of prices - price-setting, internal prices, profitability and efficiency - function and purpose of cost centres - budget as a means of business management.

KEU/REG1  Regional Economics and Regional Politics
The terms ´space´ and ´region´ and their position in the theory of economics and social sciences. Neoclassical, behavioural and structural approaches to the localization theory. Spacial interaction of economic activities. Spacial mobility of production factors. Space penetration of innovation. Theory of land utilization. Models of the inner structure and development of towns. The structure of settlement and the system of towns. Theory of central places. Regional problems in the Czech Republic. Traditional approaches to regional development (theory of sectors, neoclassical approach etc.). New approaches to regional development (innovation, flexible production). KEU/APP  Copyright and Industrial Law
The system of legal protection of intangible rights, the term of ownership, (legal protection of creative solutions, protection of copyright notice, passing-off the goods) copyright, patent information and documentation,. Protection of industrial law abroad, protection of inventions and industrial designs, registration of trademarks, appellation of the origin of goods, application and exercise of the industrial law. Cooperation with the Industrial Property Office, specialized services and services of patent attorneys.

KEU/DSMSP  Required Seminar - Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
This seminar offers students supervision, methodological advice for the bachelor thesis (individual consultancy). The credits are given to the students after the completition of the bachelor thesis.

KEU/CONT  Controlling
Controlling as a term, its content, operational and strategic controlling, financial controlling, planning of incomes and expenditures, cash flow, controlling of the working capital, stocks and short-term financial sources, financial control, investment controlling, strategic controlling. The concept of controlling as a part of business management. The seminars give the students a possibility to learn how to solve business problems. Students work on a key study.

The aim of the seminar is to make the students familiar with administrative functions in the production unit in small and medium-sized businesses. The practical training should be an extenuation of the topic dealt with in the bachelor thesis.

KEU/BSMSP  State Bachelor Exam - Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
The content of the bachelor exam will be assigned by the respective department. The defence of the bachelor thesis on a selected topic is part of this examination.

The aim of this training is to make the students familiar with the environment the students deal with in their bachelor thesis. More detailed instructions will be given by the supervisor.

KEU/PRXPM  Practical Training - Enterprise and Management
The aim of this training is to make the students familiar with administrative functions in a selected production unit. It should be chosen in accordance with the topic of the bachelor thesis and should serve as a source of information for the elaboration of the thesis.
