The department of marketing, trade and services provides for the teaching of business management,
marketing and trade and services for third sphere for all students of the Faculty of economics.
The main intention of this department are two specialisations: Trade and services and Travel and
bathing. The department offers this obligatory-optional subjects: travel, travel and services,
geography of travel and recreation, travel management, strategy of trade operation, organisation
and management of trade and services. The department also arranges for the following supplementary
subjects: balneotechnics, franchising, history of European culture, gastronomy and hotels, bathing,
logistics, marketing B, promotion, marketing of travel and bathing, socio-economic geography,
external economic relationships in trade, basics of ecology etc.
The department has the independent part of the physical training and sport, which provides for
the teaching of sport training in Cheb, the summer and winter courses, the optional subjects as
commerce of sport and recondition for managers etc.
Apart from the basic teaching the department also provides for vocational training for students
and seminars to support the bachelor theses for individual specialisations.
The department arranges also the state bachelor examinations of specialisation Trade and services
and Travel and bathing.

KMO/GH1 Gastronomy and Hotel Industry
Gastronomy and catering, its importance , sorts and functions. Catering in restaurants,
schools, factories etc. Organizational set-up of catering institutions, supply, technology
etc. Social functions of catering, other functions of gastronomy. The connection of the
accommodation and catering services in hotels, private accommodation etc. Set of services
in hotels, organizational set-up, facilities, the hotel rooms, the role of the receptionist,
chamber made and housekeeper. Current trends in hotel industry and catering. Excursion.
KMO/MCR Management of Tourism
The decisive role of managers in Czech businesses, the demands on his profile.
Management in hotel industry. Financial strategies. The issue of taxation. Material interest
and personal management. Public Relations in the Czech Republic. Social economic efficiency
of the Czech Republic. Information systems in the Czech Republic.
KMO/MNM International Marketing
This subject is based on the basic knowledge in the Fundamentals of Marketing.
It provides a methodological basis for understanding the internationalization of business
activities when doing business abroad. International markets, creating optional market
segments etc.
KMO/MOS Business and Services Manager
The fundamentals of business and tourism management. The decisive role of managers in
business, the demands on his profile. Financial strategies. Taxation. Material gain and
personal management. Public relations. Social-economic efficiency. Information systems.
Model situations in the decision-making process.
KMO/MTGA Fundamentals of Marketing
Marketing and its development. Markets and its parts. Marketing in environment. Consumer
and organization behaviour. collection of marketing information. Segmenting in marketing.

Pricing strategy. Stimulation of sale. Marketing mix.
KMO/MOP Business Operation Management
The subject is aimed at the presentation and training of the basic principles of the
movement of goods in retail and wholesale. Company management on the operational level.
Data processing. Key studies on the technology of operations. Movement of goods, stock
management, space management, merchandising etc.
KMO/ORO Trade Organization and Management
The subject focuses on the development of the trading activities in the domestic market,
especially on the changes in the organizational set-up and the strategies of trading
companies. The conception of the progressive operational retail trade. The main activities
of the most important retailing companies, their strategy in the Czech and European markets.
KMO/PM Business Management
Management and its importance. Development of managerial thinking. Management as a system.
Process management. Psychology and social relations. Quantitative management. Management of
changes (strategic, critical and transformation aspects, reengineering, global management).
The development of management in the Czech Republic and its current tasks.
KMO/PRXOS Internship - Business and Services
The internship objective is to get the students acquainted with the regular course of the
business and its problems, to learn about the reasons of these problems and the solutions.
The effects of internship are recommended to be used in the bachelor thesis. Participation
in the faculty research tasks can also be accredited.

This subject focuses on improving the physical condition, adaptability of organism,
the positive relation to physical activity. Students select areas of concentration
from a list of offerings posted in the KMO department at the beginning of each semester.
Depending on the availability of resources and personnel the following courses are usually
offered: swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, aerobics, karate, softball,
body building, non-traditional sports and games, mountain climbing.
Instruction in Cheb only.
